Description

The second instalment in a brilliantly clever, funny and highly illustrated murder mystery series

The most troublesome thing about being a detective is that it is almost impossible to go on holiday.

When Bonnie Montgomery finally gets a break from cracking cases as her alter-ego, Montgomery Bonbon, something terribly fishy happens the moment she and Grampa Banks arrive on Odde Island for half-term – and it's not just the smell of the harbour. There's been a mysterious death at Leerie Lighthouse, and what everyone assumed was an accident is setting Bonbon's moustache all a-quiver: a sure sign that something is Highly Suspicious.

When a second death takes place on the other side of the island, Bonnie is sure the two are connected. But can she solve this case alone, or will she need double the detectives to solve double the murder?

Critic Reviews

For any readers who LOVE whodunnits, Montgomery Bonbon is the book to read! The funniest detectives in children's fiction – I loved it so much. Put on your fake moustaches and join the murdery fun! Maisie Chan
Alasdair Beckett-King has written another cracking who-dunnit that had me guessing until the end and racing through the pages faster than Grampa Banks’ ice-cream van could climb hills. Delivered with a healthy dose of humour and starring a brilliant and unlikely crime fighting duo who have the most wonderful of generation-transcending relationships, Montgomery Bonbon is heart-warming, crime-solving, moustache-y heaven. A Word About Books
Montgomery Bonbon is a wonderful series and I can’t wait to see where it goes. The Book Muse
Montgomery Bonbon: Death at the Lighthouse is a puzzle of amusing twists and turns at the forefront of every situation. The language is page-turning— its sharp wit and lively pace adding to the humour so cleverly injected throughout the story. Of course, it is the special relationship between Bonnie and her Grampa that brings moments of tenderness amidst the crime-fighting detective work that touches the heart and gives a quiet reprieve from the mayhem. Reading Time
This is a quirky, twisted tale involving a lighthouse, far from believable characters, onions, an ice-cream van and a fake moustache! ... The scattered illustrations throughout the book by Claire Powell have a Quentin Blake-like caricature quality and broadcasts that this is obviously a book to be read for fun! Young readers aged 8-11 will enjoy this romp in the world of whimsy and sleuthing. ReadPlus
