For twenty years he has taught Art History across Europe and the United States. After graduating in Art History, Classics and Philosophy from St Andrews University, he studied Arts Criticism at University of London and Literature at Leiden University in the Netherlands before training as a cultural archivist at Glasgow's HATI Institute and - most recently - as a community therapist. Having previously written for AnOther magazine, his first book, The Angel of Charleston, was published in 2013, and his second, The Story of Pop Art, was published by Hachette in 2019.
