The papers and diaries of Major-General Granville Egerton CB Commanding 52nd Lowland Division at Gallipoli, June-September, 1915 An outspoken and hard-hitting account of the Gallipoli Campaign by the Commander of the 52nd Lowland Division. As Commander of 52nd Division, Granville Egerton kept a detailed long daily diary of the events, conditions and personalities at Gallipoli between June and September, 1915. His diary which details his daily life and his own deteriorating health is a valuable insight into warfare in the region. In addition Egerton supplied evidence to the Dardanelles Commission and kept post-war Journals with an evaluation of the campaign and the views of his own circle of friends. The author reproduces the diaries and papers in full with detailed notes and analysis in chronological order. AUTHOR: David Raw lives in East Lothian in Scotland. He was educated at Bradford Grammar School and London University. After retirement as a Head Teacher he completed a Masters Degree in First World War Studies at the University of Wolverhampton where the tutor for his thesis on Egerton as a Commander at Gallipoli was under his tutor, Professor Gary Sheffield. 10 b/w photographs and maps
