Vietnamese-born Tran is fed up with being called 'nip' and sick of being on the sidelines. Tran and fellow talent-sptter, Izram, decide to comb their suburb for players. After hilarious elimination trials, Nip's Eleven is born!

Ruth Starke worked in public relations and travel marketing before turning to fiction writing in 1992. She has since published nine novels for young people. Ruth teaches English and Creative Writing at Flinders University. She has been a judge of the Australian National Festival Awards for Children's Literature since 1995.
