Opening as an Observatory in March 1967, Stardome is considered one of the Auckland region's most popular and best loved attractions. Building its own Planetarium in 1997, it is the largest and most advanced planetarium in New Zealand, and one of few in the world co-located with a publicly accessible observatory.
