Lola and Maryanne have been BESTIES ever since they were kids growing up on the Tiwi Islands. They are very different, but they both LOVE hunting, and this time they are going out on a boat with their funny dads! A hilarious adventure written by students at Tiwi College with David Lawrence and Shelley Ware as part of the ILF Create initiative.
The Tiwi Girl Hunters are back ... but this time they're on a BOAT! Their funny dads, Mark and Arnie, are supposed to be passing on their DEADLY fishing skills. But are the girls already too deadly? Even if Maryanne's laugh doesn't scare away the miputi, they still have to overcome a wet-season storm, a dodgy motor and their dads' annoying old footy stories to make the BIGGEST catch of their lives. Or will they come home with NOTHING?Located at Pickataramoor on Melville Island, Tiwi College is a secondary boarding school owned and managed by the Tiwi people to provide quality education for young Tiwi.
Tiwi Girl Hunters was produced as part of the Indigenous Literacy Foundation's Create Initiative. For a week in November 2023, eight young Indigenous women from Tiwi College visited Sydney, where, together with Hachette Australia staff and two mentors - David Lawrence and Shelley Ware - they created this book. This item is eligible for free returns within 30 days of delivery.
