About The Author
Vera Brittain
Vera Brittain (1893-1970) attended Oxford but left in 1914 to serve as a VAD nurse. After the war, she returned to Oxford and befriended Winifred Holtby. A tireless advocate for pacifism and feminism, she was a prolific speaker, lecturer, journalist, and writer, authoring twenty-nine books.
