Sam Hecht and Kim Colin founded Industrial Facility in 2002, and have since collaborated with companies as diverse as Emeco, Issey Miyake, and Muji. The studio has won more than 50 international awards and its designs feature in numerous permanent collections including MoMA, SFMoMA, and the Art Institute of Chicago; Centre Pompidou, Paris; and Victoria and Albert Museum, London. Their book Usefulness in Small Things was published in 2011.
