A simple, refreshing approach to business that defies conventional wisdom and aims to make work in the office more successful and more enjoyable. A business bible for imaginative and aspirational young men and women.
In THE RULE BREAKER'S BOOK OF BUSINESS, Roger Mavity provides clear advice and guidance for anybody ambitious about work, yet uncertain of their route to success.
The book is devoted to the simple - yet vital - idea that success at work is much more likely to be achieved if we are happy and confident in what we do. But it also believes that fun, and success, at work don't come from slavishly following the rules. On the contrary, it's only by ignoring the conventional wisdom, by breaking a few rules, by daring to use different means, that we have a chance of achieving something remarkable. The short and refreshingly simple chapters are divided into three sections: dealing with money, dealing with the people around you and dealing with yourself. Each chapter identifies a common problem at work and resolves each problem in a clear and approachable way.Chapters include:- Cash is King (and Ace, Queen and Jack) - How to a write a business plan, and a strategy, and is there a difference?- Is there life beyond email?- The art of delegation“Mavity attacks his subject with verve. Rather than being another dry business book, this is a fun and engaging read”

a refreshing, no-nonsense approach to getting a grip on our working lives Marie Claire
Roger Mavity founded his own advertising agency, Mavity Gilmore Jaume, in 1981. After selling the business in 1991, he became Chief Executive of the Granada Group, master minding the company's takeover of the Forte Group - still the biggest hostile takeover bid in British commercial history. He then became Chairman of Citigate, one of the UK's most respected financial PR companies. Mavity is now Chief Executive of the Conran Group. He is also Chairman of PR specialists Hudson Sandler, an art photographer who has exhibited in London, Paris, Brussels and Amsterdam and a trustee of The Photographers Gallery. Mavity will be leaving the Conran Group in April 2013 to focus on his writing and photography.
Climbing the career ladder can be scary, and it often feels comfortable to stay with the crowd. But you won't come out in front by following the others. Success depends on being brave enough to do things differently. Instead of sticking slavishly to the conventional wisdom, you need to be willing to break the rules, and carve your own path. The Rule-Breaker's Book of Business tells you how. Based on a lifetime of success in advertising, industry, media and design, Roger Mavity shows you how a little imagination and original thinking can achieve more than a ton of logic and analysis. Refreshingly honest and straightforward, this new route-map through the jungle of office life is packed with innovative but practical ideas for dealing with common problems at work. It will tell you how you can achieve your ambitions by doing things differently - and how you can enjoy yourself on the way.
