PRODUCT INFORMATION

Description

For more than two decades, urban missionary Leroy Barber has worked to reverse violence, poverty, and sub-standard living in inner-city communities nationwide. But he also discovered a disturbing trend: The virtual absence of people of color in missions staff and leadership has created a widening racial disconnect both within and beyond these organizations, and Christian ministries can no longer relate to the people they claim to serve.

Just like the famous song, we're all God's children - but some people get a larger slice than the rest. In RED, YELLOW, BLACK, AND WHITE, Barber draws from his personal experiences and those of other African American, Native American, Latino and Asian American leaders, to:

- Highlight the historical patterns that have created racial discrepancies within ministry

- Shed light on the diversification needs within urban missions, and how to correctly approach the situation

- Encourage readers to wrestle with hard questions about diversity in churches, ministry and missions

- Offer constructive, clear-cut solutions for how to truly promote diverse leadership in urban missions and ministries, for the benefit of the organization and the community being served

With grace, insider expertise and insightful historical understanding, Barber takes on one of the most sensitive issues facing today's Christian ministries, offering practical, comprehensive solutions for creating a more diverse future.
