Everything you need to know about how to choose, plant, and care for your bulbs-and find joy in the process.
The current trend of growing your own cut flowers has brought back into frenzied popularity many varieties that are actually grown from bulbs.
Bulbs are easy to plant and simple to grow if you have some guidance, but none of the bestselling titles currently on the market give much guidance on how to actually tend and grow and care for bulbs beyond the few varieties they use in their own particular aesthetics, often dahlias and chrysanthemums. But from bulbs, corms, and tubers come an astonishing variety of possibilities including colors, shapes and leaf qualities. While most gardeners are only familiar with the early show of spring bulbs like daffodils and tulips or the late show of gladiolus, this class of plants can actually provide three-season color and quite economically. Bulbs are also valuable for small gardens and are easy to use in pots, where they can be changed out to bring seasonal drama. An absolute must read for any gardener who wants to grow bulbs in the garden or containers, THE ESSENTIAL GUIDE TO BULBS is a gorgeously photographed, comprehensive, and inviting resource that is destined to be a gardening classic.
