Description

When her twin brother goes missing in Northern California, Vivian Owens follows his trail to the town of Mount Hookey, home to the followers of Telos: a mountain-worshipping cult that offers spiritual fulfilment to those who seek it.

While trying to navigate the town's bizarre inhabitants and the seductive preaching of the initiates of Telos, Vivian will have to confront questions about herself, her family, and everything she thinks she knows about the world. She quickly realises that her search is about far more than her missing brother - it is a quest for the secret of happiness itself.

To that end, there is only one question she needs to answer: what is really at the top of Mount Hookey?

'Gripping, compelling and otherworldly.' - David Quantick

'A thrilling writer who keeps the reader permanently on edge.' - Telegraph

Critic Reviews

“"Thought-provoking and very well written" Booklist Praise for Alpha Omega: "Inventive, playful bonkers writing... and an explosive finale that ties up all the story's threads with a beautiful, pitch-black bow." SFX Magazine "A relentlessly entertaining ride - memorably oddball characters, spot-on satire and smart, deadpan humour. I read it in a flurry." Tim Major, author of Snakeskins "Too-close-for-comfort dystopia... A frightening picture of a repressive near-future, but it's the glints of humanity and humour in its telling that set it apart." Louis Greenburg, author of Green Valley "The author is one to watch." Historical Novel Association Praise for Nicholas Bowling: "Wonderfully twisty and atmospheric... One not to miss." The Bookseller "By the final chapter each thread has been skillyfully unravelled... Nicholas Bowling is a thrilling writer who keeps the reader permanently on edge." Telegraph”

"This is not a run of the mill thriller. Rather it hovers between reality and other dimensions... The pages will be turned rapidly"
