About the Author

Author Moira Butterfield's list of children's books includes a number of internationally successful titles spanning non-fiction and fiction for all ages up to 11. She has been highly commended by the US Library of Congress for her work, and her books have featured on the national UK school curriculum. She has written a number of art and craft books for children and run craft workshops at National book festivals. Moira lives near Bath, UK.Gwen was brought up and went to school in Wales, after which she migrated north to Edinburgh to study art where she graduated with a First in illustration and was awarded the Helen A. Rose Bequest for art. Gwen's first picture book,Guess What I Found In Dragon Wood (text by Tim Knapman), was published by Puffin, as wasThe Bog Baby by Jeanne Willis, and a collaboration with Jenny Nimmo,The Beasties, by Egmont. She has since published many more, including two aboutBear and Bird which she has written herself. Most recently, Gwen has illustratedStories from Bug Garden (Candlewick), happily and neatly combining her love of art and insects. She lives in Bristol with her young son.
