About the Author

After an intensive horticultural training, John Shortland has been Head Gardener for a number of large, country houses. He has also been an advisor to the public at the Chelsea Flower Show and has worked alongside Dan Pearson on Channel 4 Television's Garden Doctors. He runs The Garden Coach(R) which teaches gardening skills to people in their own gardens and also The Glyme Garden & Landscape Company, for those who don't want to design or maintain a garden themselves. He lives in Oxfordshire.
