Ruth Paul lives in an off-grid straw bale house in the middle of a paddock under a wind farm just outside Wellington, New Zealand. As well as writing and illustrating children’s picture books, Ruth is mother to two children and wife to one husband. Ruth started writing and illustrating her own picture books in 2004. The King’s Bubbles won the New Zealand Post Children’s Choice picture book award in 2008, and her book Two Little Pirates made the Storylines Notable Book list for 2010. Stomp was also a Storylines Notable Book and a finalist in the New Zealand Post Book Awards, 2012. She is the illustrator of the Mr Tripp books in the Walker Stories series, and she has written and illustrated three picture book titles about a group of animal friends: Hedgehog’s Magic Tricks (2012), Red Panda’s Toffee Apples (2013) and Rabbit’s Hide-and-Seek (2014).
