Description

For almost fifty years, there have been cricket World Cups. And for almost fifty years, no other nation on Earth has dominated them quite like Australia.

Whether it's Ricky Ponting's and Meg Lanning's all-conquering teams, Allan Border's underdogs, Aaron Finch's unfashionable T20 champions, Steve Waugh's thrilling tightrope-walkers, or any of the other Australian sides to hold a trophy aloft, these World Cup wins are not defined by the outcomes of the tournament but by the paths each side took to get there.

In The 10 Greatest World Cup Wins in Australian Cricket, sports journalist and comedy writer Dan Liebke counts down the best of these tournament victories. He guides us through the dominant, thrilling, improbable or ground-breaking journeys that the various Australian sides took to secure those wins, and salutes the cricketing legends that were forged on the biggest of world stages.

This is a book that could be written about no other cricketing nation, a celebration of the greatest World Cup-winning country there is: Australia.

About the Author

Dan Liebke is a comedy writer, who was a regular contributor toMAD Magazine in Australia for two decades before coming to his senses and turning his comic focus to cricket. In addition to a social media presence on Twitter (@liebcricket), Dan has contributed articles making fun of cricket and cricketers to the ABC Cricket Guide magazine as well as websites such as Cricket365, The Roar, The Guardian, FirstPost and Greenfield Post. He also co-hosts both the Can't Bowl, Can't Throw and Ridiculous Ashes cricket podcasts. His book, The Instant Cricket Library, a comic anthology of fake excerpts from imaginary, unpublished and other hard-to-find cricket books, was published in 2018 by the Slattery Media Group. His books The 50 Greatest Matches in Australian Cricket, The 50 Greatest Australian Cricketers and 50 Great Moments in Australian Cricket were published by Affirm Press. Dan is a genuine all-rounder, equally inept with both bat and ball - and he steadfastly believes that cricket is the funniest, and hence best, sport that humanity has ever invented.
