On August 20th, a group of young explorers was charged with a dangerous mission. They were to travel across wild country to deliver a valuable parcel. The journey would be punishing. It would test the resolve of the brave young explorers. Most of all, it would provide us all with a pair of unlikely heroes to admire and remember for many years to come. This is their story.
Peter Carnavas writes and illustrates books for children. He has created many picture books, including The Children Who Loved Books, Last Tree in the City and Blue Whale Blues, as well as several novels, The Elephant and My Brother Ben. Peter's books have been published widely across the world and have won many awards, including a Queensland Literary Award and the Patricia Wrightson Prize for Children's Literature at the NSW Premier's Literary Awards. Peter also works as a teacher librarian, and he lives on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, with his wife, two daughters, a dog and a cat.
